Traditional joinery and working with our hands

Creating the patented ergonomic Owl seat and fostering our line of Owl furniture since 2009 has been all-consuming and didn't allow for maintaining and enjoying my 32' classic sailboat Willow.  Unfortunately, she was stored in her shed and not very happy for all those years.  Finally, Owl furniture is at a point where I am able to carve out more time for fun, and launching Willow was one of my first priorities.  There is still lots of time for furniture orders, as new and repeat customers want beautiful ergonomic solutions to maintain their lifestyles with healthy comfort.  We keep the production flowing and "the boss" gets to go sailing once in a while.  Not a bad distraction, and I think I've earned it!

Willow was built in Germany in 1959 by De Dood and Sons.  A true classic, she was created with traditional joinery and lots of handwork.  All of her interior cabin drawers are hand-cut dovetails.  There was no technology involved 63 years ago.  Today CAD and CNC programming and machining have infiltrated the way we make things.  From boats to Owl Furniture, it is now a big part of the world's production chain and a necessity to be competitive.  However there will always be handwork required to finish a project...bottom line...may we never forget tried and true traditional joinery and working with our hands!
